Lady Musgrave Island

Saturday was a lazy day! we slept late as it rained gently outside, then breakfasted on the deck, did laundry, facetimed home, etc. We went for a driving tour of the area - out to 1770 and the point. There were beautiful views and a it was a lovely coastline but very hot! We picked up our tickets for our tour to Lady Musgrave Island. Lunch was scones with jam and cream on the deck, then reading, cross-stitch and naps while an afternoon thunderstorm moved in. It is a very quiet, peaceful place.  Nancy feels she  could get used to this! Taco salad then some cards and we broke open my bottle of rum for a nightcap.
On Sunday we were up early and off to Lady Musgrave Island. It was a 64 km trip out, but it was very smooth. We saw a few whales on the way out! Susie snorkeled for the first time and we saw many types of coral and fish. We took a semi-submarine ride through the coral, had a great lunch, toured the coral cay and learned about the bird life, etc. There were shovel nosed shark, blue spotted rays and some turtles as well as hundreds of noddy terns and a few other birds. On the way back to the boat they showed us where the turtle cleaning station was - in a large bommie that has been worn down by the turtles "parking" there to be cleaned. Nancy and I snorkeled out to it and there were two turtles getting cleaned! They didn't like the crowd of us and took off. I quietly followed one and Nancy the other. It was amazing to see them fly through the water so gracefully only an arm's length away.
Went out to the point to see the sunset, but it was cloudy.
