A less than fun day

We awoke to a bright blue sky and the winds of the previous day had subsided. It was actually a nice day and we prepared for a hike at Cradle Mountain.

 

Good fortune was not on our side at we blew a right rear tire on a blind corner in the winding roads of the mountains.  Replacing the tire, we found that one of the bolts holding the wheel on was broken off and another snapped off as we changed it.  With only 3 bolts holding the wheel on, and no spare tire telft, we -I- didn't feel comfortable driving into Cradle mountain so we headed back to the coast to ge the wheel fixed.

 

Being a Sunday with no tyre repair shop open we ended up in Burnie for the night, got caught up on email, and walked across the road to the beach at sunset to see the little fairy penguins come up to their burrows.  We saw 15 of them!
